Arrangements for Regulating Non-Authorised CILEX Members

Proposed changes to our regulatory arrangements to allow us to regulate those CILEX members that are not authorised to carry on any reserved legal activities. These include CILEX students, paralegals and affiliates and are known throughout this paper collectively as 'non-authorised CILEX members.'

Proposals to change how the English or Welsh language proficiency of qualified lawyers is assured

We are consulting on proposals to change when and how we seek assurance that a qualified lawyer who has been granted an exemption from SQE2 has the English or Welsh language proficiency needed to practise as a solicitor of England and Wales.

Changes to the rules on Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) exemptions

We are consulting on a new rule that would prevent qualified lawyers from being granted an exemption from part or parts of the SQE that they have previously attempted and failed.
