Decision details
Mr King has been granted permission to be employed at TonghoUK Limited and 941 Medinvest Holdings UK Limited as an inhouse solicitor subject to the following conditions:
- Mr King's approval is limited strictly to employment with TonghoUK Limited (SRA number 8006275) and 941 Medinvest Holdings UK Limited (SRA number 8014826) as an in-house solicitor, where his role is described in his application and subsequent correspondence dated 4 February 2026 and 10 March 2026.
- Mr King is approved to work as the sole in house solicitor at TonghoUK Limited and 941 Medinvest Holdings UK Limited on an internal, non-client-facing basis only. He must not provide legal advice, services, or assistance to any external clients, third parties, suppliers, customers, affiliates, or any other persons.
- Mr King's work must be strictly limited to providing internal legal research, high-level internal analysis of legal issues, and preparation of internal briefing notes to support the directors in their decision-making. He must not independently implement, execute, or authorise decisions arising from that work, and he does not act as the organisation's legal decision-maker.
- Mr King must not, in connection with the above entities, undertake any reserved legal activities. He must not draft, amend, review for negotiation purposes, or approve contracts, or any legal documents for external use; communicate externally on legal matters; conduct litigation, disputes or act in any matter that could reasonably be construed as acting as a solicitor for third parties.
- Mr King must not practise on his own account or operate independently as the organisation's legal function. Where a matter arises that may reasonably involve regulated legal activity, legal proceedings, or the need for external legal advice, Mr King must ensure that the relevant entity instructs an appropriately authorised external legal provider. His involvement in such matters must be limited to background research only.
- All instructions to Mr King must be provided solely by the directors of the relevant entity, and Mr King must report only to them.
- The SRA is immediately informed of any proposed variation in Mr King's duties or his supervision arrangements. Any variation must not take place until permission is granted by the SRA.
- This approval will lapse in the event of Mr King leaving any of the approved entities. Any return to employment with those entities in this capacity will require a fresh application to the SRA.

They are reasonable and proportionate having regard to the purposes set out in regulation 7 of the SRA Authorisation of Individuals Regulations, and the regulatory objectives and principles governing regulatory activities as contained in section 28 of the Legal Services Act 2007.
