What is the scam?
A website at https://tmsolicitors.com is operating, seemingly marketing legal services and falsely claiming to be for a law firm called 'TM Solicitors LLP'
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm of solicitors called 'TM Solicitors LLP' (but see below in relation to a genuine firm with a similar name).
The website provides a general contact email address of ‘contact@tmsolicitors.com’. The website also provides a contact telephone number of +44-7418-605799 and a postal address of 199, Bishopsgate Greater, London EC2M 3TY.
The website claims the founder to be ‘Thomas Makonnen’ and provides a contact email address of ‘tmakoneen@tmsolicitors.com’. The website also claims that several other supposed ‘solicitors’ work at ‘TM Solicitors LLP’.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor named ‘Thomas Makonnen’.
Any business or transaction through 'TM Solicitors LLP' or through the above website, telephone number, or any email using the domain '@tmsolicitors.com’, is not undertaken by a firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
TM Solicitors LTD (SRA number 556897) is a genuine firm of solicitors authorised by the SRA. Their genuine website address is www.tmsolicitors.co.uk, telephone number 01482429985 and email domain @tmsolicitors.co.uk.
TM Solicitors LTD has confirmed that it does not have any connection to the website mentioned in the above alert.
There are genuine solicitors who have the same name as one that is used for supposed individuals on the website referred to in the above alert, but none of the genuine solicitors are believed to have any connection to the website.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means.
