Email and documents sent from 'Claire Carrigan' of 'Law Offices of Carrigan, Huntley and Associates' in relation to a court-approved settlement.

What is the scam?

An email sent purporting to be from a genuine solicitor of a genuine firm in relation to a court-approved settlement. The settlement document, headed Willesden Magistrates Court, is fake, and the email refers to the Willesden Magistrates Court Restitution Claims Department, which does not exist.

The emails were sent from the email address clairecarrigan@carriganhuntley.com. The email address help@carriganhuntley.com is also provided.

The emails provide the website address https://www.carriganhuntley.com, the firm address 103 Golden Lane, London EC1Y 0TZ, the telephone number +44 203 769 1199 and the mobile number +44 741 861 1549.

Any business or transaction through the above email address, website address, firm address, telephone number or mobile number is not undertaken by a firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA does not authorise and regulate a genuine solicitor called 'Claire Carrigan' or a genuine firm called 'Law Offices of Carrigan, Huntley & Associates'.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
