Emails and invoices misusing the names of Angela Pearson and Ashurst LLP have been sent in relation to purported unpaid invoices.
What is the scam?
Emails and invoices have been sent from 'Jessica Adam' purporting to be a partner of debt recovery and resolution and/or 'Shannon Turnbull' purporting to be a senior accounting advisor at Ashurst LLP in relation to supposed unpaid invoices. Emails have also been sent misusing the name of 'Angela Pearson' a genuine solicitor (see details below).
The emails and invoices misuse the name and details of 'Ashurst LLP', a genuine firm of solicitors (see details below). The invoices include bank account details that are not associated with the genuine firm of solicitors.
The emails were sent from the following email addresses:

- 'accounting@ashurstadvisory.site'
- 'accounting@ashurstadvisor.sbs'
- 'accounting@ashburn-invoice.cloud'
- 'accounting@ashurst-advisory.online'
- 'accounting@ashurst-advisory.site'
- 'accounting@ashurst-advisors.site'
- 'accounting@ashurstpartner.onmicrosoft.com'
The documents seen by the SRA were sent to several European and Canadian corporations seeking payment for services and provides payment instructions directing the recipient to transfer the funds into a UK, Canadian or German bank account.
The invoices included addresses of, 1 Duval Square, London, E1 6PW; OpernTurm, Bockenheimer Landstraße 2-4, 60306 Frankfurt am Main, Germany; and 'Suite 4100, Brookfield Place, 181 Bay Street, Toronto ON M5J 2T3'. The latter also included an email address of 'sh.accounts@ashurstaccounts.site'.
Any business or transaction through the email addresses and the documents above are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors Ashurst LLP (SRA ID 468653). The genuine firm uses the email domain @ashurst.com and the genuine firm's website is www.ashurst.com. Its head office is 1 Duval Square, London Fruit and Wool Exchange, London, E1 6PW.
The genuine firm’s Frankfurt branch office (SRA ID 469988) address is OpernTurm, Bockenheimer Landstrasse 2-4, 60306, Frankfurt, Am Main, Germany.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Angela Pearson (SRA ID 152237) who is employed at Ashurst LLP.
The genuine Ashurst LLP and the genuine Angela Pearson have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the emails referred to in the above alert. Ashurst LLP has confirmed that it has no partners or employees by the names of Jessica Adam or Shannon Turnbull.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
