Warning: Emails misusing the name and details of the genuine law firm Phillips

27 March 2026

Correspondence has been sent misusing the name and details of the genuine law firm Phillips in relation to a property transaction.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that emails have been sent misusing the name and details of a genuine law firm (see below). The emails were sent by 'Emma Henry' purporting to be from the genuine law firm (see below) from the bogus email address 'ehenry@phillips-solicitors.com' in relation to the purchase of a property.

The emails seen by the SRA also provide 'client care' account details for a deposit payment that are not associated with the genuine firm of solicitors.

The bogus email signature includes the genuine law firm (see below) website and Shirebrook branch address and provides the telephone number '01623 740680'.

The domain '@phillips-solicitors.com' is not the genuine domain name used by the genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

The SRA does not authorise or regulate an individual named 'Emma Henry'.

Any business or transaction through the email address, telephone number and account details above, or generally through the domain '@phillips-solicitors.com' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
