Warning: Bogus website misusing the name and details of Al Hayat Solicitors Limited

The website 'https://alhayatsolicitors.co.uk/index.htm' is misusing the name and details of Al Hayat Solicitors Limited.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been advised that a bogus website is operating at 'https://alhayatsolicitors.co.uk/index.htm' which misuses the name and details of a genuine firm of solicitors (please see genuine details below).

The bogus website offers services to 'create comprehensive estate plans' as well as 'helping to navigate the probate process'. The office address provided on the bogus website is Suite 206-207, Miller House, Miller House 47-49 Market Street, Farnworth, Bolton, England, BL4 7NS and a telephone number of +4420718382404.

The bogus website also alleges 'Alice A. Salvo' is an attorney at the genuine firm of solicitors (please see genuine details below) with over 20 years of experience.

The SRA does not authorise and regulate an individual with the name 'Alice A. Salvo'.

Any business or transaction through the bogus website, telephone number or individual above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Al Hayat Solicitors Limited (SRA number 628212). The genuine firm does not have a website. Its head office address is Miller House, 47-49 Market Street, Farnworth, Bolton, BL4 7NS. Their contact details are:

The genuine firm Al Hayat Solicitors Limited has confirmed that it does not have any connection to the bogus website or Alice A. Salvo referred to above.

This genuine firm has confirmed it does not have any connection to the matters referred to in the above alert.  

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
