Mr Jaffar was employed by Nayyars Solicitors Limited, whose head office is at 949 Stockport Road, Manchester, M19 3NP, between 21 August 2023 and 22 October 2024.
Summary of decision
A finding of dishonesty was made against Mr Jaffar, and he was made subject to a disqualification order under section 99 of the Legal Services Act 2007.
The SRA has disqualified Mr Jaffar from holding any of the following roles in law firms regulated by the SRA:
- Head of Legal Practice
- Head of Finance and Administration
- A manager
- An employee
The facts of the case
Between July 2024 and October 2024, Mr Jaffar made false claims to insurance providers for the cost of storage and/or vehicle recovery in relation to several client matters when no such services were provided to those clients.
Our decision on sanction
Mr Jaffar's conduct breached relevant duties that applied to him as an employee of the firm, namely, Nayyars Solicitors Limited. It was found that it would be undesirable for Mr Jaffar to act as a Head of Legal Practice, Head of Finance and Administration, a manager or an employee of a body licensed in accordance with section 99 of the Legal Services Act 2007.
Mr Jaffar was disqualified from holding any of these roles.
He was also directed to pay costs of £600.
