Warning: Correspondence and telephone calls falsely purporting to be from Saunders & Partners LLP

A letter and emails have been sent, and telephone calls have been made, falsely purporting to be from a genuine law firm in relation to the recovery of investment funds.
What is the scam?
The SRA understands that telephone calls have been made and a letter and emails have been sent to members of the public, falsely purporting to be from a genuine firm of solicitors (see details below).
The emails, which have been seen by the SRA, were sent from the email addresses 'clientservices@saunders-24.com' and 'support@saunders-2'. One of the emails seen by the SRA was sent by a 'Sarah Thompson', claiming to work for the genuine firm of solicitors (see details below). The telephone calls were made from the telephone number +34 654 887 026
Any business or transaction through the email addresses or contact number referred to above are not undertaken by an individual or firm regulated by the SRA. The letter, which has been seen by the SRA, includes a bogus stamp and logo of 'Saunders Law with James Ware Stephenson' and misuses the name, address and SRA number of the genuine firm (see details below).
The letter quotes the total sum of 'fifty thousand euros' payable over two instalments of 'twenty five thousand euros' for legal and advisory support, providing the recipient with an IBAN and BIC bank account number for payment. The letter also offers assurance that the funds will be handled within regulatory requirements.
Any business or transaction through the email addresses, document or contact number referred to above are not undertaken by an individual or firm regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Saunders & Partners LLP (SRA ID: 622823) whose address is Ground Floor, Hind House, 2-3 Hind Court, London, EC4A 3DL. The genuine email domain of the firm is @saunders.co.uk and the telephone number is 02076324300.
The SRA also authorises and regulates several genuine solicitors called Sarah Thompson, none of whom are believed to have any connection to the email referred to in the above alert.
The genuine firm has confirmed that it does not have any connection to the individual Sarah Thompson, the telephone number, letter and email addresses referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
