An Instagram account has sent messages misusing the name and SRA number of Daniel Bailey

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that an Instagram account 'Danny Bally' with the username @dannybally789 has sent messages purporting to be a genuine solicitor (see details below).

The messages seen by the SRA claim to be sent on behalf of a purported client and relate to several legal matters including harassment and defamation. The messages contain a signatory 'Daniel Bailey, SRA regulated (SRA 608482)'.

Any business or transactions through the Instagram account @dannybally789 is not undertaken by an individual or firm of solicitors authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor Daniel Bailey (SRA number 608482).

The genuine solicitor has confirmed that they do not have any connection with the Instagram account mentioned in the alert above.

What should I do?
