Warning: Website and emails misusing the name and SRA number of Jack Michaels

A website is operating at www.jmichaelslaw.co.uk purporting to offer legal services and emails have been sent misusing the name and SRA number of a genuine solicitor.
What is the scam?
The SRA understands that a website is operating for 'JMichaels Law' at 'www.jmichaelslaw.co.uk' purporting to offer legal services. The website previously referred to a 'John Michaels', however, now misuses the name and SRA number belonging to a genuine solicitor (see below).
The website seen by the SRA provides a contact email address of 'contact@jmichaelslaw.com' a telephone number of '0207 315 4294' as well as a postal address belonging to genuine firms (see below).
The SRA has also been informed that correspondence has been sent from the email address 'contact@jmichaelslaw.co.uk' in relation to a supposed legal matter. The emails seen by the SRA misuse the name and SRA number of a genuine solicitor (see below) supposedly of 'JMichaels Law' who is described as a 'Freelance Solicitor'.
The SRA does not authorise a law firm called 'JMichaels Law'.
Any business or transaction through 'JMichaels Law', 'John Michaels' or through the above contact details is not undertaken by a genuine solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Jack Michaels with the SRA number 660518. The genuine solicitor has confirmed that he has no connection to the above website or email correspondence. He is also not a freelance solicitor.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Wiseman Wingate Solicitors Ltd, which has a head office at Jubilee House, 3 The Drive, Brentwood, CM13 3FR. The genuine firm has confirmed it has no connection to the above matter.
The SRA authorises and regulates Poole Alcock LLP, which has a branch office address at Jubilee House, The Drive, Great Warley, Brentwood, CM13 3FR. The genuine firm has confirmed that it has no connection to the matter
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
