27 October 2025

An email and stamped letter have been sent to an energy company misusing the name of Rothera Bray LLP and Sandeesh Samra.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen an email and a stamped letter which have been sent to an energy company, misusing the name of a genuine firm of solicitors and genuine solicitor (see genuine details below).

The email seen by the SRA misuses the name of the genuine solicitor in the email sign-off and advises the recipient that the solicitor is acting as legal representative for an individual named in the email. The email advises the recipient that the sender has been instructed to correspond with the recipient regarding electricity and gas accounts for the named individual, who has recently moved into a new property as a tenant. The email was sent from the email address 'ss.samra@rotherbray.co.uk' and contains the phone number '01592 200 774'.

The letter seen by the SRA also misuses the name of the genuine firm of solicitors and genuine solicitor. The letter further misuses the head office address of the genuine firm, as well as their website address. The letter also contains the email address 'ss.samra@rotherbray.co.uk' and the telephone number '01592 200 774'.

The letter seen by the SRA  also carries a 'bogus stamp' that misuses the name and head office address of the genuine firm. The SRA has compared the bogus stamp to the genuine stamp of the firm, and the bogus stamp does not include the telephone number of the firm (details below).

The letter also includes a signature that is not associated with any of the genuine firm's employees or agents.

Any business or transactions through the email address, telephone number or letter described above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
