Warning: Misuse of the name of First Line Family Law Limited

Online messages have been sent misusing the name of First Line Family Law Limited in relation to family law matters.

What is the scam?

The SRA have been informed that an individual called 'Jamie Frisby' has been contacting members of the public online, particularly within a Facebook group supporting individuals whose children have been adopted. The individual has been misusing the name and SRA ID of a genuine firm (see below for details). The individual has been offering legal services in family law matters and has been providing PayPal links to request payments for his services.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor called 'Jamie Frisby'.

Any business or transaction through 'Jamie Frisby' is not undertaken by a genuine solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called First Line Family Law Limited (SRA ID 8008383). The genuine firm uses the email domain @firstlinefamilylaw.com.

The genuine firm First Line Family Law Limited has confirmed that they do not employ an individual named 'Jamie Frisby' and that they have no connection to the individual or messages referred to in the alert above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
