A document headed 'Power of Attorney' has been sent to a member of the public from 'Robert Chambers Solicitor & Advocates'.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been advised that a document headed 'Power of Attorney' has been sent to a member of the public from 'Robert Chambers Solicitor & Advocates'.

The document seen by the SRA provides a postal address of 'Princesspare Anex, Water Base Avenue, Kessingking, London, UK'. The document is signed off by a 'Robert Chambers' (see below). Another document seen by the SRA is headed 'Cargo Parcel Courier Service' and provides an email address of 'robertlawyer9@gmail.com'.

Any business or transaction through the postal address of 'Princesspare Anex, Water Base Avenue, Kessingking, London, UK' or through the email address of 'robertlawyer9@gmail.com' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a solicitor called Robert Matthew Chambers. The genuine Robert Matthew Chambers has confirmed that he has no connection to the above matter.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means.
